What causes Man Boobs?

Posted by Paul Turner at 22nd June, 2009

More and more men are developing man boobs these days. The medical name for man boobs is Gynecomastia, so what causes Gynecomastia?

Gaining weight - gaining weight is the number one cause of Gynecomastia today. Many men don’t exercise, preferring to sit on the couch. Also fast food and ready meals are much easier than cooking, making them too tempting for many. One of the places the fat collects is the chest area - causing man boobs.

Hormone levels - this may be your cause of Gynecomastia, and therefore no amount of exercise will completely get rid of your man boobs. There is an easy fix for this by incorporating certain food in your diet and avoiding some others.

Puberty - teenage boys will often have man boobs which can be a real killer. Although exercise and a good diet will help at the end of the day things should sort themselves out in time.

Your age - yes your age can be what causes your Gynecomastia. As our metabolism slows down we tend to carry more body weight and guess where one of the common areas is for it to settle? Exercise, diet and maybe some specific man boobs exercises will help your appearance.

Drink and drugs - both illegal drugs and medicine can have side effects that can cause Gynecomastia. You shouldn’t be doing illegal drugs, so if you want to lose the man boobs lose the drugs. Drink also plays a part I’m afraid. My advice is to stop drinking to get your man boobs under control and then you can start again moderately.

Using Steroids - if you use steroids then I am afraid they could cause Gynecomastia. Steroids may make your muscles grow, but they may make your man boobs grow too. Best stick to natural body building methods and eat lots of good protein.
