Wedding Planning The Right Way

Posted by Alberta Dowse at 24th June, 2009

A wedding day is definitely a one and only one of its type. And while it is definitely so when you anticipate it, the day will never lose its magical quality if it turns to be as perfect and wonderful as you had anticipated it to be. If the day turns out perfect, even if you look back at it decades after, the day would continue to mesmerize you with its magical charm.

Nobody wants a washout wedding but a wedding day could indeed fall flat if it is not properly planned. It is a day when accumulated hopes and dreams of days are coming true. It is also a day when so many things, including minute details, have to be taken care of. It will be a perfect day only if the different activities involved in it are so perfectly synchronized so that they fit into each other like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

So, a certain amount of help for planning a wedding would be highly welcome unless you are a genius of a planner yourself. And complete help is available, if that is what you would like to have, so that all you have to do till the magic day arrives is dream and dream and dream. There are wedding planners who can take care of everything except taking the wedding vows on behalf of you.

Sure, wedding planners do not come cheap. Since wedding is a time when you are forced to spend even otherwise, additional spending may not be on your agenda. If so, try to manage with non-professionals, who are not likely to charge you that much. Besides that, there are enough of books that provide detailed guidelines for planning a wedding, as well any number of web sites catering to the needs of brides-to-be and grooms-to-be.

Even if you choose not to engage a wedding planner, out of budgetary constraints or otherwise, enlist some local help. Your parents and a brother or a sister would only be too happy to pitch in. So make use of their services as much as you can. It is not always that family members are happy and eager to help. So when it is available, use it profusely and brighten your brightest day.

Who does not want her wedding day to be the most perfect day in her life? Every person wants a fairy tale wedding that she can time and again resurrect in the annals of memory till the end of time. Nothing can match the anticipations of that day. Nothing can match the desires and dreams that conspire to fashion that day.

Wedding planners are available everywhere to ease the burden of wedding preparations. They take off every responsibility off your shoulders so that all you have to do is to count the days and nights to the magic day. And if you do not want so much responsibility off your shoulders, there are planners who can help you with only those portions where you need help.

The wedding planning professionals may be so thorough with details that you might not have to worry about a pin or a pencil but they would demand proportionate compensation also for their services. That may not be easy for everyone. An alternative is to go in for the less experienced planners, who can also ease your burden quite a lot. Or you can just rely on books and the many sites for the purpose, which are sprouting up daily over the internet.

Even if there is no question of going in for a professional wedding planner, dont try to make your wedding planning a one man show. There is sure to be enough of local help available in the form of your family and friends, for making the guest list or for choosing the pattern for the bridal gown, or for deciding the menu. Entrust to each, those portions of the work in which they have expertise, and your wedding day is sure to be a gala day.

How to Choose a Shower Head

Posted by Daniel L Henage at 17th June, 2009

Adjustable shower heads are the most popular type of shower head. They can provide a wide range from an intense skin-stinging spray to a relaxing mist to an invigorating massage. Look for one that you’ll be able to adjust with soapy slippery hands.

If you are looking for even more flexibility you can select a adjustable shower head that is handheld, providing the ability to move the shower spray around your body. Handheld shower heads are especially useful for the disabled and elderly using a shower seat, and they are also great for bathing children.

Consider Your Water Pressure & Temperature

If you have low water pressure in your home you’ll want to strongly consider purchasing an adjustable shower head so that you will be able to increase the flow level. To determine a rough estimate of the water pressure in your home you can call your local water company and ask for the static water pressure for your neighborhood. If you’d like a more precise measurement then you can buy an inexpensive (about $10) pressure gauge from the home supply store. The Uniform Plumbing Code calls for water pressures of 50 to 70 psi to residential homes, but the average water pressure in the U.S. Is closer to 45 psi. If your water pressure is less than 40 psi then you have low water pressure.

Some newer shower heads mix air with the water to make the water pressure feel more substantial, sometimes powerful enough to get the ultra high-pressure needle-like water spray. But if you like the water hot you may want to avoid aerating shower heads since they can cause the water temperature to drop by as much as 15 degrees before it reaches your body. If you like a very hot shower, and can’t safely increase your water heater’s temperature setting, then you’ll want to look at product descriptions and reviews to identify shower heads that do well with keeping the temperature high.

Consider Hard Water

Many parts of the country have water as evidenced by a chalky white buildup on shower doors and tiles. This same buildup can slow water flow as it clogs the nozzles and interior mechanisms of some shower heads. If you aren’t sure whether you have hard water you can call your local water company to find out. If you do have hard water then you should select a model that is designed to resist clogging or specifies anti-hard water features. For example, rubbery nozzles allow you to easily wipe away any hard water deposits. All-metal nozzles can make cleaning up the chalky buildup more difficult and you may find yourself having to scrape away deposits with safety pin or harsh cleaners.

Relax with Rain Showers

If you want to experience the feeling of natural rainfall then you should try an oversized shower head, also known as a rain shower head. These types of shower heads also provide more stylish options to go with your luxury bathroom. Rain shower heads are not without their drawbacks. Some individuals are not satisfied with the low flow rate provided by oversized shower heads. Also, since the water falls directly downwards, it isn’t always easy to target the water flow where you need it (e.g., when you want to keep your hair dry while washing your body). A rain shower’s low power and lack of precision make it more difficult to wash off shampoo and soap. Rain shower heads can also sometimes be more difficult to install and may require special parts.

How to Pick the Right Shower Head

Posted by Daniel L Henage at 17th June, 2009

Adjustable shower heads are the most popular type of shower head. They can provide a wide range from an intense skin-stinging spray to a relaxing mist to an invigorating massage. Look for one that you’ll be able to adjust with soapy slippery hands.

If you are looking for even more flexibility you can select a adjustable shower head that is handheld, providing the ability to move the shower spray around your body. Handheld shower heads are especially useful for the disabled and elderly using a shower seat, and they are also great for bathing children.

Shower Pressure and Temperature

Adjustable shower heads are especially useful if you have low water pressure in your home because you can adjust the nozzle for stronger flow. If you don’t know your water pressure you can pick up a pressure gauge from your local hardware store for about $10. Or you can call your local water supplier to ask what the static water pressure is for your neighborhood, which will give you a pretty good idea. The average water pressure for homes is about 45 psi, which is a bit on the low side. The Uniform Plumbing Code calls for water to be delivered to homes for domestic use at 50 to 70 psi. If you are below 40 psi you have low water pressure.

Hard Water Considerations

White chalky residue on faucets, shower doors, and tiles is a sign of hard water. (If you aren’t sure if you have hard water, the local water company can tell you.) Hard water leaves mineral deposits that, over time, can clog your shower head and divert spray from its intended direction. Some shower heads are engineered with hard-water in mind and advertise anti-hard water features in their product descriptions. If you have hard water, one of the most important things to look for in a shower head is rubbery nozzles that make it easy to whisk away weeks worth of buildup with the tip of your finger. All-metal shower heads don’t usually stand up so well to hard water deposits, and may require disassembly to clean or the use of a straight pin to scrape buildup out of the nozzles.

Relax with Rain Showers

Rain showers mimic natural rainfall with over-sized heads and gentle raindrops falling directly downward. Rain shower heads also tend to come in more luxurious and stylish designs and finishes. Some people report that the rain showers don’t provide enough power with the flow spread out over such a wide head. Because the water falls from directly above, it can be difficult to target the flow where you need it, for example when you need to wash your body while keeping your hair dry. The lack of power and precision placement mean it takes more effort to wash off soap and shampoo. Rain shower heads also sometimes require special parts and are usually more difficult to install.
