Americans and people around the world find a deep passion in watching their favorite movies. It is a past time that we seem to enjoy as we are entertained by our favorite movie genres.

Each year we spend over 100 million dollars renting and buying movies, DVD’s and films that match our particular taste in cinema enjoyment. One look at all the theaters and movies houses that grew in America over the past 20 years, one would be inclined to think that our obsession with movies is entirely new to this generation. It is not.

However, when you study history, you will see that movie watching was a favorite source of entertainment during some of the most turbulent times in America history. People flocked to theaters during the Great Depression and throughout both world wars.

Movies really became the most sought after form of entertainment when sound was first introduced. To hear the characters actually talking to the movie watching experience to a whole new level. It was then that they actually began to bond with their favorite actors such as Shirley Temple as they heard the sound of their favorite actors for the first time.

Other popular films that depicted the rise of the mob in the U.S. such as gangster movies seemed to gender great interest amongst the working class men and young teenage boys. A favorite amongst women seemed to be musicals and plays staring well known actors of that time.

However, during The Great Depression, many people did not have money for entertainment. A movie ticket was equivalent to a meal ticket. So people started turning to entertaining radio shows. Here they could listen to their favorite radio personalities as stories of adventures, mysteries and romance were play out in great detail.

Instead of watching a movie, people could listen to popular movie stars and invited guests as they told stories of romance, adventure and mystery. Entire families would huddle around one small radio and would listen with great intent to the popular movie stars of that era.

Another big hit during the 1920’s was swing music performances put on by Big Bands. Since most of these performances were aired over the radio, it became a popular source of entertainment during the long evening hours.

Even though the people during the Great Depression did not have money to spend for entertainment, they seemed to always find a way to have fun and be entertained. This is a great testament to the strength and will-power to carry on during tough times.

Today, we have access to millions of movie rentals and DVD’s at the click of a mouse. It is amazing how technology has changed the way we seek entertainment. With a little search online, you can find all types of downloadable movies to rent and buy such as horror, comedy, romance, Sci-Fi, and westerns. Americans love movies and rightly so. The passion we are share in slipping in a DVD or watching a movie online seems to be one of the most enjoyable and relaxing times of our entire day. It is not only a great form of entertainment but a time to enter different worlds of fantasy played out in movie plots.

Our passion for watching movies can be measured in the hundreds of millions spent each year on movie downloads, rentals and DVD buys. No other time has given us access to so many great movies.

When you look back during the Great Depression and throughout the times when we were engaged in world wars, movie entertainment was scarce. Even worse, people did now have money to pay for movie tickets or go to theaters.

It was in the 1920’s when sound technology was introduced to movies for the first time. These movies were smashing hits during that time and people seemed to enjoy comedies and classics such as “Gone With The Wind” and movies starring Shirley Temple.

The 1920’s saw the release of some of the greatest movie hits during that time. Producers saw how sound affected the movie watching experience and started releasing movies that paralleled real world social experiences such as gangster movies, love and romance and musicals.

However, during The Great Depression, many people did not have money for entertainment. A movie ticket was equivalent to a meal ticket. So people started turning to entertaining radio shows. Here they could listen to their favorite radio personalities as stories of adventures, mysteries and romance were play out in great detail.

One of the most popular radio stories was “Little Orphan Annie” about a little girl who was a detective solving mysteries along with her little Children in particular loved this show because Annie often displayed a great sense of child-like imagination.

Musical performances put on by Big Bands were another great hit during the Great Depression. People would listen to these musical shows and stage performances over the radio as an alternative to spending money for movie tickets. It was very popular.

This went over extremely well. People across the country loved it. It was a way for them to briefly escape the hardships they had to endure and enter a fantasy world where they could live out their fantasies through the roles of their favorite movie stars. It kept them entertained and took their minds of the difficulties of life.

Today, even though the country is going through an economic recession, at large we are not encountering the plight they had to endure. With a mouse click or a short drive to a DVD rental store, we have access to tens of thousands of movies and high quality DVD’s such as western movies, science fiction, comedy or scary movies. It is amazing how far we have come.

Free Sony PSP Go Hits the UK

How long can one depend on being tied to the keyboard and mouse for the ultimate gaming experience? Now we are living in the golden ages which everyone keeps talking about. Over two short years we have witnessed the launch of many high-profile gaming consoles, each of which promises to change the gaming world forever! The Xbox 360 has its cult online, and the playstation 3 has its terrifying hardware! From “complete home entertainment systems” to amusement devices, gaming consoles are going at it like never before. It almost hurts the brain to try and conceive of a console beyond what we already have-both Xbox 360 and ps3 are formidable machines that have not gotten to show their full potential.

The next one on the list is the Sony PSP, which is being offered for free from marketers to customers in the UK! Dreams spewed by research groups are all very well, but we want more concrete information, don’t we? If any thing is given free, people immediately rush to the shops to get them, no matter how busy they are, their next action would be to get the products.

Marketers wisely used this concept, and decided to give away the consoles as a part of their affiliate marketing strategy. The companies indirectly gains new customers through this way.

Sony was not able to keep the lid on this product. There were lots of leaks about it in the media, and its price was considered one of the worst kept secrets of the industry. The PSP Go is providing lots of surprises to the customers for this release. The top surprise is the 16 GB flash memory drive and the additional multimedia ports to add more memory. The “sense me” application also provides a bonus surprise. The application picks up the play list based on a person’s mood. It does this by using a 12 tome melodic analyzer. The launch of the PSP Go Media device provides a plethora of options for the users to choose from, options ranging from games, music, and access to the playstation store. Its price is also steadily dropping day by day, thus encourage more people to get the PSP!

The latest announcement of the PSP includes a thin, pink ‘Hannah Montana’ PSP and a gaming bundle. A PSP has been exclusively designed for the “Grand Turismo” game. Also another game call “Peace Walker” is coming for the PSP GO, which is a sequel to the “Metal Gear Franchise”. This is often regarded as the true sequel, and the team behind MSG4 will also be involved in the game. The catchiest development in this product is the graphics, which one can see in the trailers. Its looks resemble a cold war era metal gear title. The unique features and the free version make people to go crazy about the free Sony PSO. Its launch in the UK has made it the tea time talk for many UK customers.
